Katy has had a diverse range of experience over the previous 15 years working in private practice with GP’s and psychologists (WA) and also as a practitioner consultant for one of Australia’s leading nutrition companies (WA & QLD). Initially after moving to Tasmania in 2006 she worked as a Chronic Disease Management Coordinator for a pharmaceutical company in a preventative healthcare role.
Katy then established her own business Tonic Inspired Health in 2007 which grew to be a multi disciplinary wellness centre having more than 5000 clients visit the clinic. Tonic Inspired Health has evolved and transformed over the previous 9 years into the recently rebranded “pin & tonic” in collaboration with Belinda Matkovich.
Katy also worked at ‘Nutrition for Life’ Diabetes & Health Research Centre. Here Katy provided innovative nutritional advice based on the latest scientific principles in managing diabetes and cardiometabolic health. In this role, Katy has also presented lectures in the community about the critical role of nutrition in our lives. Katy now also works for medical device company Medtronic as a clinical specialist in Diabetes insulin pump therapy, educating patients and practitioners using this technology.
Outside work her interests include outdoor activities, film and music, and caring for her three busy young children.
Belinda has worked in several clinical settings as a Naturopath and Remedial Massage Therapist since completing her bachelor degree in Melbourne in 2005. Her experience is diverse having worked in clinics in Melbourne, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, in Hobart and also in a previous Launceston based clinic. For several years Belinda also worked as a Family & Youth Support Worker in Melbourne, assisting clients with a wide variety of lifestyle & mental health issues.
Belinda has also been an elite athlete living and studying on a scholarship in the USA during the 1990’s. This experience has led her to have an interest in sports science and nutrition. She has had experience tailoring dietary plans for athletes and also has given group talks to athletes on sports nutrition. She has evolved her interest in this area to focus on the science of low carbohydrate diet and performance, which she has found to give outstanding results.
Outside her work Belinda is passionate about whole foods cooking with her Thermomix and is an experienced senior Thermomix demonstrator. She also enjoys quality leisure time with her young daughter.

Based on gathered information, we will prescribe treatment involving dietary recommendations and relevant natural medications. We will treat you as an individual, not just a set of symptoms.
We can support you with your diet for conditions and circumstances including:
We can teach you about dietary paradigms including FODMAP, paleo, LCHF, low carb, whole30, GAPS, 5:2, professional detoxification, gluten/dairy free and other allergy specific diets.
Acupuncture works by influencing blood flow and nerve pathways, reducing inflammation and pain, and restoring normal healthy function in the body. We may also use an electro machine to stimulate the needles to further reduce pain and may use another technique called cupping to relieve tension.
Understandably, some of you may be curious about the idea of using needles to reduce your pain and inflammation, and wonder what acupuncture feels like. The sensation of inserting super-fine acupuncture needles into specific sites on the body is very different to the discomfort of having a blood test or pricking your finger with a sewing needle! You may experience little or no sensation but it should not be painful for the duration of the treatment and most people find it very relaxing.
It is important to note that ‘dry needling’ is very different from acupuncture. Some practitioners may use this simplified technique alongside their other treatment modality. However a registered acupuncturist has spent several years studying the sophisticated principles of acupuncture, combining modern clinical applications with traditional methods that have stood the test of time.
At pin & tonic we are able to conduct pathology testing for food allergies / intolerances. This enables us to accurately test for 59 different foods with only one finger prick of blood. The foods include a wide range of commonly consumed products including gluten, dairy, egg, other grains, proteins, legumes, nuts, fruits and vegetables. This procedure is suitable for both adults and children. Within 3 days we will generate a report which highlights specific foods disrupting your health rated on a scale according to severity.
Feel well, vital and symptom-free after identifying problematic foods.
Specialised technology enable adjustable temperature to suit your comfort level. Generally they run slightly cooler than traditional saunas yet heat penetrates further into your body tissues. The infra-red waves are the same frequency as the fluid in our cells which enables toxins to be released and then excreted through our perspiration. It is a gentle dry warmth rather than a steam style sauna which is more therapeutic and leaves you feeling revitalised and energetic.
